Personality: When Link first meets Medli early on in the story it is clear that she is a kind, gentle soul who takes on a great deal of responsibility. Taught by the Chieftain's mother to be an attendant to the spirit Valoo at an early age, she has always had a great deal of determination to become the best at her line of work and make certain that the spirit is cared for so that he may in turn watch over the Rito tribe. Unfortunately her teacher passed away while she was still very much in training, and her own inability to understand much Ancient Hylian - the only language that Valoo spoke - left her with a sense of inadequacy towards her job. As much as she wanted to be the best, she was left in a state of limbo and was "spinning her wheels" in a sense as to what do next. On top of that, Valoo being tormented by the parasite Gohma left all the younger Rito unable to gain their scale from him - something that Medli felt personally responsible for even though she had no way of knowing why it was happening or what to do about it.
Her meeting with Link and seeing his great feats of courage helped both her and the forlorn Prince Komali. His rescue of her from the Bokoblins that kidnapped her on her attempt to find out just what was happening with Valoo and the subsequent defeat of Gohma put the young attendant back on the right path to becoming as great as Komali's grandmother had been, and seeing Komali get his wings left her feeling as "proud as a mother might be" when it came to her young charge.
After Link left Medli no longer struggled with uncertainty in regards to her abilities, stepping forward with determination to continue practicing at the harp that she played for Valoo. However the words Komali's grandmother had spoken to her about her harp and how it tied her to "fate" lingered in her mind more than ever since Link's arrival. He was acting as the green-clad hero of tales old, going up against forces even stronger than Gohma to save not only his sister but the entire world. Did she have a part to play in all that?
It turned out she did, and when he returned to her and conducted her in playing the Earth God's Lyric she had a vision of the former Earth Sage, a Zora by the name of Laruto who was an ancestor of her people from many, many centuries past. It was through this that Medli was finally given insight in to what her true purpose was - to cleanse the Earth Temple, repair the dulled edge of the Master Sword for Link and give him strength through the power of the Sages.
Part of her still has some doubts that she'll be able to live up to this title, and while she was a great asset to Link in his journey, being left behind in the temple means she can only hope that her prayers reach him and that her music truly did aid him in reviving the Master Sword to it's former glory. Just as before, though, Medli faces everything she does with bravery and determination, intent on being the best she can be regardless of what title she holds - attendant or Sage.
Powers/Abilities:
While she has no true "powers" to speak of, Medli does have the ability to fly for short distances, even carrying smaller people along with her as she does so. She can also play the harp, and likely has some other skills dealing with being an attendant to a physically manifested spirit.
